Meet Cortez

I am not a "career coach" who stumbled into this work. I spent over 15 years inside top recruiting firms, the institutions that control access to opportunities universities, workforce centers, employer partnerships watching what works and what gets in the way. As Associate Director of Career Services at the University of Memphis, I have helped thousands of students and professionals navigate hiring processes, negotiate offers, and position themselves for advancement. I have delivered career programming inside correctional facilities, worked with transitioning military veterans, and guided youth entering the workforce for the first time. We started Comp Development & Consulting because there are too many qualified, capable people getting passed over not because they aren't good enough, but because they don't know how to communicate their value in a way the market understands. That is the gap we close.
